Yeah, it’s been how many days after the SF E-metrics but I still haven’t blogged about my experience there. It’s been overwhelming and I wanted to get my hands dirty at once before I forget everything, so I’ve been busy with work. But, this is to prove that I am getting the ball rolling… On the first night at E-metrics, I got to chat with one of the best in the industry! Mission accomplished on Day 1!

I have been reading Avinash’s blog since Day 1 of my formal Web Analytics days (and wow, it’s been a year already). I had my boss buy his book, but of course that was company property, I wanted one for myself. I specifically wanted to do just that - buy the book at the E-metrics but I didn’t realize, I could get it signed too! And a signature I got, I went the extra mile to being an official fan girl by asking for his picture too.

It was a full night. I got to chat with Avinash and other great analysts too. I also saw Anil Batra up close (again, I’m in awe). I would’ve gotten Jim, Eric, and everyone else’s autograph but I’m afraid they’ll think I’m psycho…

But hey, this is me. I am really grateful for the chance to travel half way around the world to realize that I’m a full pledged Web Analyst already. And I’m not just saying that, I know that.

I resolved to blog live at the event, but I was overwhelmed with all the things I have learned - some I heard for the first time, some I have been reading and experiencing first hand already. I was also star struck seeing all the Web Analytics Rockstars like Eric Peterson and of course, Avinash Kaushik, that I really didn’t turn my attention away from them even for a sec.

The Summit was held from May 5-7 at the Palace Hotel here in San Francisco. The three-day event was filled with insights and knowledge that you couldn’t get anywhere. It was indeed a privilege to be able to come.

I validated a lot of things when I was listening to the talks. I attended sessions that I believed would be beneficial to me and to my organization. Of course I was also assessing my level of expertise, I didn’t want to just stare at all them The key takeaways is that Web Analytics is evolving, much like Web 2.0, there is Web Analytics 2.0. The industry is adapting and changing rapidly. As web analysts, it is up to us to make our mark.

The web analyst plays a very vital role to the growth of your business. It is also multiple in essence. Not only do we get to be reporter, we also get to be the storyteller. We can be decision maker too at the same time. With all these, sometimes identity crisis arise. I know that. But with the core function of delivering insights and understanding to your web data, we couldn’t go wrong. Yeah, we can’t.

I will be sharing my learnings with you soon on this space. Just let me take the time to squeeze my sponge. I’m so full.

Today is the Web Analytics Basecamp of the E-metrics Summit here at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco’s Market St. I was looking forward to meeting a lot of first time comers and I was not disappointed. I actually met two Filipinas in the session but they were both born and raised in the US already. I still remain the Philippine representative then. Heh. Registration went smoothly and they gave away a goody-bag with lots of vendor materials and information in it. As expected.

I wasn’t supposed to attend the WAA Basecamp, but I wanted to verify and confirm my knowledge of Web Analytics and perhaps get a formal instruction, so even though I felt it would be below my league already (yeh, I know), I still came to the Introduction to Web Analytics track. I was thankful I attended.

The Palace Hotel was magnificent. The speaker, Vicky Brock was great, and I had very engaging discussions with my co-attendees. I have written down my ideas somewhere and I will write about them later. I am looking forward to the formal sessions tomorrow.

It’s thrilling to see my name on the tag too.

I am on my way to Los Angeles and from there, I will attend the biggest Web Analytics event of the year - the E-metrics Marketing Optimization Summit in San Francisco. I believe this is the first time anyone from the Philippines will attend the event and I am so excited.

I have been psyching myself up so I will be like a sponge during the event. There are very interesting talks lined up and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. As a kick-off to my Analytics blog, I will be sharing my experiences at the E-metrics almost live! So watch out for my daily updates and learn more from Maianalytics.

The summit is being held all over the world and from May 5-7, it will in San Francisco at the Palace Hotel. A lot of Web Analytics professionals and practitioners will be there and share their knowledge about Web Analytics and Marketing. I am privileged to be part of this year’s event.

Keep tuned in!
